As the Republic Day Approaches...

As the days counts less for our national festival Republic Day to approach, I feel nostalgic about the childhood times back in school when there used to be cultural programmes in my school showing the historic traditions of India . There used to be practices in our schools for the march-pasts and the whole school used to echo with the sound of patriotic songs for 10 days. As the day came nearer and nearer practices went intense and everyone worked hard to give their best. Dressed in our white uniforms we reached our schools on that day. There was flag hoisting by the chief guest. The school band was the main attraction .What a splendid band it was..!!Walking with great pride in the middle of the assembly of the students, it was something we had, to boast about. And at the end we received sweets. When returning back home, whole of the town had flags at the top of the house and was singing songs, "Ae mere watan ke logo” being the major one.

Today, all this is gone and has become a day of holiday to rest sitting at home just as any other Saturday or Sunday. Though I watch the flag hoisting at the Red Fort by the President of India on television .But back then, Republic Day had a special meaning. India got its Constitution on this day. It seems very trivial to us now but our martyrs know what it took to assert and claim for Independence and the Constitution makers know challenges faced in making of Constitution and giving all the sections of society equal status and rights. We cannot imagine this unless experienced. But it is our misfortune that we youngsters were not there to fight for our freedom struggle. So, at least this Republic Day, try to be the responsible citizens of the country, know your rights but don’t forget your duty. Stay with peace and brotherhood and help each other grow. Respect your freedom..!!!

Nothing is permanent in life

In life nothing is permanent, everything is temporary that means your sorrows and pain too have an end. Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise. People take everything in life to be permanent love, hate, sorrow, friends, family and that is when they grow a tree of expectedness from others, and that is when they get hurt when the same tree mould with one's belief and trust fall without any warning unexpectedly and people get depressed isolated and hide their true identity behind a fake smile keeping every memories safe in a corner of their heart. Well its so common in us, its so natural in human. The only medicine or cure to this problem is that we start to believe that everything is temporary and happens for a reason and rather finding out the reason for what happened (fall of tree of expectedness) we should focus on the good things it happened for and what lies ahead. No this doesn't advocate to move on. Moving on is not the solution. It is like moving on from...

Quotes from Buddha's Life

Between the 6th and 4th century BCE, a man named Siddhārtha Gautama began to turn heads in Eastern India with his profound spiritual wisdom.  He was given the name “Buddha”, which literally means “The enlightened one”, and to this day we still receive tremendous insight from his teachings. Interestingly, Buddha never actually wrote any of his teachings down.  Similar to Jesus and Socrates, his method of teaching was verbal and communicative.  Oral traditions kept the wisdom of the Buddha alive until 400 years after his death when the first transcript of his teachings first emerged. His awakening occurred when he realized that you didn’t have to starve yourself and mortify your body, as was commonly practiced in India at that time to enhance spiritual clarity and wisdom.  When a young girl offered him some milk and rice pudding as an action of compassion, he realized that there was more to The Way than what he had been taught. He then ...
