Leh Laddhak- Ride to the Top of the World

Getting there isn't easy and that's the best part of it.

Travelling is one of the most affirming things we can do to ourselves. Although I’ve been travelling as much as I could since my college days it’s only been a year or two since I’ve realized that it’s something that i love the most.

Travel makes me not only happier but also inspires me to be a better person.

To reach Leh there are usually 2 options :
        1. By flight - Go airways, Spice Jet and Air India provides flights to Leh.
        2. By Road - Either through the Kashmir valley or the Manali Highway

Here I will be talking about my journey and some important tips that might be useful for you.

Tip 1: Always reach before the scheduled time and If stuck in a Jam in Delhi best way is to get you bags out and start Running

I had a flight from Delhi airport to reach Leh on 27 June 16 in Go Airways at 05:15 hrs. I missed my flight as I got stuck in Traffic Jam outside Delhi, had to ran 2 km with luggage, due to which reached Airport exactly at 5:15 am, oh what an entry was it. I still remember that fear, but thanks to the Go Airways, they arranged a seat for me in next flight that was scheduled to take off after 1 hour. So i reached Leh at 7:30. The flight was 1:15 hr duration.

Tip 2: If you travel to Leh by a Flight then please the day you reach Leh just do one thing sleep sleep and just sleep. Dont try to be elvis plessy in the Mountains or else you may give a chance for your BP to rise enough to you to get stuck in your Bed.

Did nothing special on that day other than the most important thing.... sleeping.

Tip 3: Do not visit any high altitude place for next 1 or 2 days.

The best thing to do the very next day is to go to the market place. So have your shopping list ready and hit the road to market. Well other thing that you can do is to travel near by places. Some place near to the airport are- Shanti Stupa, Kalika temple, Choglamsar (great view), Patthar Sahib Gurudwara, Magnetic Hill and Indus-Zangskar Sangam. You might love to play a musical instrument at the Samgam, i played my chromatic Harmonica.

Tip 4: Better have a taxi booked for places far away. If you really want to enjoy the thrilling ride in bike then find a group with same enthusiasm or you might feel lonely in deserted road.

On the 4 th Day I headed towards the Pangong Tso lake and Tsomoriri lake in Maruti Ecco. The whole trip will be like 2 days and 2 nights and the taxi fare would be not less than 16k indian rupee. You will pass through Changla Pass, which is at nearly 17,600 ft above sea leavel.

Tip 5: Don't drink the water of the Pangong Lake... hahaha.. its too salty.

Pangong Lake is a natural source of salty water. The lake is very beautiful and the sky is damn too clear. You can actually see the milky way in the sky at night.
Tsomoriri Lake is even more beautiful and a perfect place for camp fire. You can sit near the lake sing and dance all night without getting tired.

Tip 6: Search for home-stay where ever you go as the are a lot cheaper.

We spent two night in home-stay both in pangong Tso and Tsomoriri. People are very nice and treat you really well. You will never forgot your one night at a home-stay all your life. Would you believe, 2 nights 2 different home-stay , dinner plus breakfast all for just 700 rupee .

After returning the third day, I spent most of the time to travel some nearby places. Like Hall of Fame- Its a must visit for all indians. Apart from it I also went to a very interesting school, i guess one of its kind in India, Secmol School.

Well the most interesting thing about this school is that the school gives admissions to failures only. The students not only study in this boarding school but also do all the other works, working in the fields, building solar cookers to cook food, make the campus clean, milk the cows and many more. The thing is that the whole school is run by students only.

Made some new friend

Well my week long Leh trip was about to end with a road trip from leh to chandighar. The road is all ok except some 30 to 40 km after Dras valley .

Thankyou !! Hope it was useful to you in some way or the other.

Nothing is permanent in life

In life nothing is permanent, everything is temporary that means your sorrows and pain too have an end. Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise. People take everything in life to be permanent love, hate, sorrow, friends, family and that is when they grow a tree of expectedness from others, and that is when they get hurt when the same tree mould with one's belief and trust fall without any warning unexpectedly and people get depressed isolated and hide their true identity behind a fake smile keeping every memories safe in a corner of their heart. Well its so common in us, its so natural in human. The only medicine or cure to this problem is that we start to believe that everything is temporary and happens for a reason and rather finding out the reason for what happened (fall of tree of expectedness) we should focus on the good things it happened for and what lies ahead. No this doesn't advocate to move on. Moving on is not the solution. It is like moving on from...

Rare Book Society of India

" Despite being an ancient literary civilization and having one of the largest literary treasures of hand-written and printed material, India does not have a single Society for rare book collectors. This is an attempt to create a forum where those elusive connoisseurs come together to discuss and share their knowledge on Indian rare books. RBSI showcases rare Indian books, prints and art, that have been digitized, with the purpose of bringing these lost words to life. Through this open virtual platform, members of RBSI can create a digital collection of rare and valuable books by downloading the digitised books that are made available here. What started of as a group for rare book collectors has now transformed into a forum for history buffs, scholars and of course the silent curious. Discussions and comments range from sanguine to educative to irreverent, all providing for an interesting cerebral buzz, every day of the week. Many of these books might be considered to be his...
